Game-changer with PPS-GR: MNK Enerji's economizer upgrade
Economizer Retubing: Implementation of Technoform PPS-GR Tubes
As part of our ongoing commitment to energy efficiency and advanced incineration processes, we've recently completed the retubing of an economizer in a paper waste incineration plant. The previously installed PFA-lined steel tubes experienced significant corrosion damage, necessitating this upgrade.
Implemented in partnership with MNK Enerji, we have equipped the economizer with Technoform's PPS-GR tubes, which have been specifically designed for this type of challenging environment. As of May 2022, this revamped 4.6MW economizer has been operating under corrosive conditions in Turkey, even below the acid dew point of 100°C.
Developed by Technoform and successfully commissioned by MNK
A key focus during this transformation was achieving energy efficiency through heat recovery below the acid dew point. Such an endeavor requires materials that can meet the demanding requirements of flue gas utilization. The challenge intensifies when temperatures descend below the acid dew point, resulting in mixed acids condensing on the heat transfer surfaces.
Technoform's PPS-GR tubes rise to this challenge, offering impressive resistance to such demanding conditions. To ensure compliance with pressurized systems, these tubes were tested according to ASME standards with a hydrostatic test pressure of 25 bar.
The original PFA-coated steel tubes experienced severe corrosion, prompting their replacement. The transition to Technoform's PPS-GR tubes was both quick and straightforward, thanks to their simple sealing system featuring an O-ring connection. There was no need for welding, as is typically required with conventional steel tubes.
