Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)
- With its high stiffness, good stability and very high dimensional accuracy, the technical plastic polybutylene terephthalate is ideally suited to the production of demanding extruded profiles
- Extremely hard-wearing, it can withstand heavy-duty friction and wear. Demonstrating high levels of chemical resistance to many solvents, it is ideally suited to industry applications in vehicle construction, electrical engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering and plant engineering, and can also be found in many domestic appliances
Extremely tough
The perfect choice for demanding extruded profiles, polybutylene terephthalate is a tough plastic with high stiffness and high levels of resistance. Suited to use in application temperatures ranging from -50 to 150 °C (-58 to 302 °F), it offers excellent chemical resistance to many solvents. Due to its low absorption of water, it demonstrates excellent dimensional stability which also makes it a great electric insulator.
Broad applications
With its interesting combination of technical properties, PBT is the plastic of choice for applications across various industrial sectors. It is especially suited to the production of bearings, strips and housing and can also be found in domestic appliances such as toasters. Approved for contact with food and beverages, it is often the material of choice for filaments and can be found in many everyday items such as toothbrushes.
