Polyoxymethylene (POM)
- With its many outstanding properties, polyoxymethylene is the material of choice for a wide-range of applications across various industry sectors
- Characterized by its excellent sliding and wear properties, it is well suited to the production of precision profiles
- Found in control units, catch and spring elements, water pump housings, valves, armatures, precision parts for electronic devices, packaging units like spray cans, door and window handles, toys and even ski bindings and electric toothbrushes
Chemical resistance
Polyoxymethylene offers high viscosity and high spring rigidity at higher temperatures. The application limits of POM are approx. -40 °C to 85 °C or 100 °C (-40 °F to 185 °F or 212 °F) permanent temperature. Its relatively high crystallinity makes it resistant to chemicals such as diluted acids (pH > 4) and bases, solvents and fuels.
Highly versatile
Thanks to its outstanding sliding and wear properties, POM is ideally suited to a broad range of applications and is used in several industry sectors. Highly versatile, it is often the material of choice for applications in the machine and vehicle construction sector, the construction and medical sector, for packaging as well as precision engineering technology.
High-precision profiles
