Video story: Corrosion-proof profiles for power stations
Resistance to corrosion
We helped W. L. Gore & Associates to completely replace corrosion-resistant metal with engineering plastic (PPS) in the frame system of the GORE mercury filter. An example of the performance of plastic that could set a precedent in many other applications and industries. The video shows a project in which Technoform was able to replace metal with high-performance plastics.
How does metal replacement work in flue gas environments? Can power plants replace metal with plastic? High-alloy metal has long been the material of choice for applications in aggressive environments such as flue gas cleaning. The fact that thermoplastics such as polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) are in no way inferior to conventional metals in applications subject to high chemical, thermal and mechanical loads and even offer advantages in terms of more flexible processability is often overlooked.
